What SmartSideGig is trying to do
SmartSideGig exists to make side-hustle research more useful than a list of optimistic income claims. Our evaluations are designed to help readers compare the practical realities of an opportunity, including cost, time, difficulty, competition, scalability, risk and the quality of the evidence behind the claims.
How listings are researched
Listings may draw on official platform documentation, company or marketplace information, public pricing, government or regulatory guidance, reputable reporting, industry sources and relevant first-hand community experiences. We summarise and interpret sources rather than reproducing them. A source appearing on a listing does not mean SmartSideGig endorses every claim made by that source.
How we treat earnings claims
Earnings vary widely, so SmartSideGig does not treat a maximum possible result as a typical outcome. Where a listing displays an income range that has not been established by strong observed data, it should be treated as an editorial estimate used for comparison rather than a promise or forecast. Community income reports are self-reported unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Our evidence labels
Unverified means the opportunity has been identified but important claims still need checking. Editorial research means SmartSideGig has reviewed public sources and applied its own evaluation framework. Community supported means relevant community experiences add context to the editorial research. Strong evidence is reserved for listings with multiple credible sources, direct documentation, or substantial corroborating evidence.
Scores and editorial judgment
Scores are comparison tools, not predictions of personal success. They reflect the factors described in our methodology and are intended to make trade-offs easier to see across different opportunities. A high overall score does not mean a side hustle is suitable for everyone, and a lower score does not mean an opportunity is illegitimate.
Commercial relationships
Sponsored placements, affiliate relationships, free access and other material commercial relationships should be disclosed where relevant. They do not purchase a positive rating, higher score or favourable editorial verdict. Businesses may request corrections or provide supporting information, but SmartSideGig retains editorial control over the final evaluation.
Community reviews and income reports
Community submissions are moderated before publication. They can provide valuable real-world context, but individual experiences can differ dramatically by location, skill, timing, pricing and demand. We do not present a single user report as a typical result.
Corrections and updates
Side-hustle platforms, fees, policies and market conditions change. Listings include a verification date where available, and readers or operators can submit corrections. Material changes should be reviewed and the listing updated rather than silently preserving outdated information.
What we will not do
SmartSideGig does not guarantee earnings, sell rankings, or present promotional claims as independent evidence. We also avoid framing risky or highly variable opportunities as easy money. Readers should still verify local tax, legal, licensing, insurance and platform requirements before acting.
